PACKING FOR A WEEK IN POLAND

The capsule wardrobe.

Having a capsule wardrobe has really changed the way I travel. In just a  few minutes I can pack everything I need for a week or two away. And thank goodness, it’ll all fit into a small suitcase or even a carry on.

Here’s what I packed for a week in Poland, in early autumn:

From Warsaw to Krakow... Here's how I wore the capsule.

Reflecting back on this capsule wardrobe, here are a few things I found that make packing a travel capsule a bit easier, and more practical:

Stick to neutrals.

I’ve found it best to stick to neutral colours. This makes it a lot easier to mix and match items. Try not have more than three colours in your capsule wardrobe (for the same reason above).

Opt for classics.

Sticking to classic pieces makes it easier to transition an outfit from day to night or smart to casual. Just by changing your shoes or adding some accessories, your outfit will look completely different. A simple sheath dress is the perfect example of this!

Pack alternating shoes.

And one last tip: If you’re going to walk a lot on holiday, pack three-four different pairs of shoes. If one pair gives you blisters, you can switch to another the next day and give your feet a break. (I made this very painful mistake in Poland and had to buy another pair mid-holiday!).

Here’s how I wore it this capsule wardrobe over the seven days:

Sixteen items. Seven outfits.

Here’s how I combined the pieces to create a week’s worth of outfitsL
